The party is too small; and they’ll never win, and you’ll end up splitting the Liberal vote! Has anyone ever told you that about the NDP?
I lived in British Columbia when the NDP won their first election in 1972 under Dave Barrett. The NDP passed a great deal of legislation in a very short time, but the one I remember best is the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. Automobile safety inspections became a government ‘drive through.’
Today, on the opposite coast, Nova Scotia is voting. All predictions indicate that I’m now going to witness the NDP’s takeover of Nova Scotia. The memory of, “Don’t vote NDP because it’ll split the left, we have to get the Liberals in,” rings even louder today.
Most of us probably don’t agree with the socialist-secularist position of the NDP; but they deserve credit for uncompromisingly sticking to their socialist guns.
Social conservatives across Canada need to know that the Christian Heritage Party will continue to stick to our guns, and uncompromisingly so-we must! We’re Canada’s only real hope.
How many of us have heard or possibly said ourselves: “The CHP is too small, doesn’t run enough candidates; they’ll never win!”
We must continue to explain to them that “Remaining small isn’t our choice; it’s yours!”
If Christians truly want to impact Ottawa, and affect the policies of the Conservative, Liberal or NDP, we have to go after what’s important to them–and that’s POWER! And what threatens their power? Only one thing; growing support for another political party.
Just look how often the media publicise party standings in opinion polls. Opinion polls never seem to lose their impact. The media announces growing support for the Liberals! And what happens? The Conservatives spend millions on attack ads!
Do the Conservatives have to worry about the social conservative vote? Only if they think that they might see those voters going somewhere else! Growing support for the Liberals moves the Tories to the left; only growing support for the CHP will revive their slumbering “social conservatism”.
Today, the Conservatives are confident that they hold the social conservative vote. But, how secure is their grasp? Ask yourself, “Have they earned it with their policies?” I don’t think so! You can help choose a political party that will take your values into Canada’s Parliament.
Every new CHP member is a win for the social conservatives. Every new vote, every new supporter, and every new candidate will make a difference! The NDP did it, the Green Party is working on it – and so is the CHP!
